Two people from each group stood up and tried to flip them back properly while the other two people tried to flip the upside down. You had ten seconds to play each round.

We talked about :
  • Why do we have rules?
  • Why should we have rules?
  • Are they important? Why?

Mr Sea Manu got Karlos to come and sit with him. They told a story about them two play Basketball.Mr M told Karlos he was rubbish at the game.We had to use positive communication to cheer up Karos.Karlos got to choose which phrases make him feel better.

Collaborative Maths Questions

L.I to cooperative as a team to achieve a something.
In our thinking groups for maths we were asked as a team to finish a task. The task that was given to us was a list with number facts from the ASB Marathon. We had to create 5 different questions using those facts from the ASB Marathon

Question Matrix

LI: To think critically about an image by writing my own questions that will help me find the information in these pictures

Today in reading we are learning about Kupe and Captain James cook. We had to look at some images of there boats and we had to come up with question and put them onto the question matrix. we had to make questions with what, were, witch, who, why, and how. using cretin words in each column theses question that we wrote had to relate to our learning about Kupe and Captain James cook.

Venn Diagram

LI: To compare and contrast

Today in reading we worked collaboratively to complete this Venn diagram. We had to write the differences of Kupe and James cook and in the middle we had to write what they both have in common. What I found in  common is that they both found New Zealand by mistake.

We had jordan and two other people come to present the prises.Jordan said that there were 87 people who registered and 66 who did the task they got given. But only 6 out of 66 complete the whole program. I was one of the people who got a certificate with a piece of chocolate.

Kiwi Can Reflection

This week we learnt about giving it a go. It means trying something that makes you afraid but you do it anyway. The energiser was called push ups and star jumps. We had to be in pairs and then we had to wait for a magic word when you grad the cone faster the your partner then you will win

The activity we played was called give it a go. Our kiwi can leader gave something to do we had to do even if we were scared to do it. We had a talk about why is good to hive new things a try. Then after that we played GKQ girls vs boys and boys won.

Tech Reflection

When we had tech we learnt how to make our mbots make sound and play music. First we had to go over how to code and then we had to use algorithm. The first algorithm we gave the mbot was to change the colour of the light it had.
The next algorithm (instruction) was to make noise their were different types of sound it could make. Then the third instruction was to tell the mbot to make music. The song our robotic teacher chose was happy birthday song.

Today we had tech. The years 8 were separated from the year sevens. The year sevens were with Miss Ferguson. She was teaching us about robotics. First she taught about coding and algorithms. Then she gave as a robot each. before we could play with the robot we had do some coding which was instructions for the robot.
We learned and played a game so we understand what algorithms mean. Algorithms means Introductions.

Why is plastic pollution a problem for our coastlines? | Writing

Why is plastic pollution a problem for our coastlines?

Did you know that plastic makes up 90% of the pollution on the ocean's surface? And most of that plastic waste comes from land, after being carried through drains, rivers and lagoons. This is one of the major issues right now happening all around the world, as it’s polluting the marine environment and killing over 1,000,000 sea animals every year!...We are in a desperate need for a change.

It’s only getting worse, and we continue to sculpt a bad future for ourselves. New Zealand consumes over 30kgs of plastic a year, but only 1/6 of it is being recycled!
Why? Because we choose to throw our plastic on the ground, instead of simply recycling or putting it in the bin.

All the plastic we unconsciously leave floating around on streets and pathways are slowly taking out our innocent sea animals. They mistake the pieces of plastic for food, and eat it… killing them. It even gets in our food, making it not safe to eat.

Let’s make a change, by remembering to pick up the plastic, or any piece of rubbish for that matter that we see lying around.

LI: To collaboratively structure and write an explanation
For writing we learnt about explanations. We learnt about T.I.I.C which is the structure of an explanation. We also had to do a collaborative explanation.Plastic pollution in and around our waterways has become a real problem. Each year the litter we drop  travels out to sea through drains, streams, lagoons and estuaries. This rubbish in our oceans harms and kills millions of sea creatures, who get caught in it or mistake it for food.

Kiwi Sport Reflection | Cricket

LI: To reflect what we did in kiwi sport.

Skills : Batting, fielding, bowling, scoring, teamwork and communication

Brian from HPPC came to teach the skills batting and bowling. The class was separated into two teams. One team for batting the other team for bowling.

Batting Team :

There was three people who started with the bat. There was two balls for each person. The rest of the team was fielding. The fielding team was aloud to run with the a balls have been hit. they had to run to the cone and back. Once the two balls were back then that person must wait for the other two to finished.

Bowling Team :

For the bowling team we got into teams of four.WE had to try and throw the ball to hit the wicket of the cone. If you hit any of those then you put one cone on the wicket. When you get all four cones on the wicket then you win the game. Then we had to throw the ball again to the wicket or cone then when you get all the cones on the wickes then you can take the wickets one by one till there was no wickets then you win.

National Current Events

LI:
Today we created a map DLO that shows current events around New Zealand. We have 6 national current events in New Zealand. The article we found most interesting, Ardie Savea being banned on tik tok. He was banned  from his doctor for dancing when he was supposed to be in bed resting because of his knee. The most shocking article was Southland flooding. Lukah, Acien, Vayan, Afatia, Liletina, Azatulah and I worked as a team to complete this activity.
