Maori Map

LI: To Learn the names of contries and add their maori name to their contry on the map
For this maori task we learnt about the different contrys around the world. After learning about this we had two different map to learn about. When we were doing this part of the activity we had to find the names of the different contries and then we had to translate the names of the contries into maori words and put them where they belong on the map. I found this task really fun because I did not knwo that weera means whales in maori.

Body Parts - Te reo challenges

 
This weeks Te Reo challenge was to name all the body parts in maori. First we started by using  animating sites like Powtoon and Pixton to start with the work. We chose an avatar so it would be easy to explain the topic. The animation covers body parts like mouth, legs, feet, eyes, teeth, elbow. nose, fingers, toes, hair, head, ears, shoulders, knee and hands.I have the link under this showing my work.

Maori


LI: To understand a range of numbers in moari.

In maori today, we got a task to learn about maori numbers. First we practices with our teacher and then we were sent of to do the task.We had to translate the maori numbers to English numbers.We we completed the task our moari teacher taught us hundreds,thousands and millions. We had to say them in maori but we didn't write the numbers in maori.

We did our task which was completing two  sheets. Our first sheet was No hea koe. Lastly we did Ko wai koe which is translating the maori sentences into English.

LI.to learn Maori learning, and language.
This week we had our second session or te reo Maori. We had to complete a task called  Wiki Rua. We had to translate the maori words into English and write the answer. We first had to understand what the words mean, to do that we went on the maori dictionary.

Maori

LI: To Refresher our minds of simple understanding of the moari culture.
This week we had Maori. Our understanding was to focus on the basic word of the maori language. We were divided into seven group of three. Their three  task we had to do. First one was to watch a video and fill out a google doc about the video. Next was we had to find a meaning of a photo of words that were given to us. Also the words were maori words. last one,We we were tested on our maori ability.

THIS WEEK FOR MAORI WE HAD TO TALK ABOUT THE MAORI  SEASONS. WE HAD TO MAKE A GOOGLE DRAW ABOUT THE MAORI SEASONS. WE ALSO HAD TO SEARCH THE SEASONS AND FIND THE MAORI WORDS FOR THAT SEASON  WE ALSO HAD TO WRITE WHAT HAPPENS IN THOSE MAORI SEASONS. This task was had to be done by one person.

Nga Whetu | Moari


For maori as you know matariki is coming so we did a task on matariki. We had to options to do huarere weather or nga whetu what I am doing stars. For the star task we had to make a poster based on matariki. So we had to create stars and then number then one to ten in English and moari. For the Huarere task we had to find pictures of coldness,hail,rain,cloudy frost, and snow. Then put it on a poster.

What is a Patupaiarehe ?

For Maori we were learning about the lonely star and about tango-tango who is one of the brothers in the story where the sons separate their parents. We had to make  slide that was about what are Patupaiarehe. These people are not nice people to meet. We had to research about them

This morning we had maori with Whea Odie. Whea odie read a book called Ihenga. We had to make a google drawing or a google slide and write down the basic facts of Patupaiarehe and the story. We had to do this maori task individually. If the patupaiarehes touch a human then the human will turn into a patupaiarehe, to be protected you will have to rub on some shark oil to protect your self. The story was usually about the patupaiarehes. We had to research on the patupaiarehes we had to search the questions so we can get the answer.

Patupaiarehe and the Mountains

LI: To learn the geography of Aotearoa and to identify what patupaiarehe are.
Mt Maungauni is a mountain in tauranga. The Hunua and the waitakere rangers are Mountains in new Auckland. Patupaiarehe are fairies that lived on these mountains in moari myths.
I learnt about the patupaiarehe and the mountains by listening to two story's ,The Legend of Mauoa and The Turehu wars. I learnt where the mountains are by going onto google maps.

LI: to learn about the legend of Mauao. 
The  legend of Mt Maunganui tells us how Mt Maunganui got dragged to its current place. Whaea Odie read us the story of Mt Maunganui. We used google maps to find the places in the legend.We used google docs to remind us of the maori words. Mt Maunganui is in new zealand and it is near the water.
