SLJ Week 1 Activity 1

LI: To collect materials needed to successfully complete our weekly superpower building missions with Nano Girl.

This morning LS2 worked in groups with our Year 4 students to help them create their first Summer Learning Journey blog posts. PBS are still at school this week so finding some of the materials we needed for our treasure hunt was easy. Our challenge is going to be able to find all the materials we need at home now. I found this activity fun because I am looking forward to the new task we get while we continue with the summer learning journey.

Wow! I really enjoyed reading your blog post blurb about the treasure hunt activity, your blurb and video was very helpful as it was easier to understand the topic. I found interesting that the outcome is still a surprise and we will know what to make step by step. What do you find interesting in this activity?
    Keep up the outstanding work!

    1. Thank you for the comment Sakshi,

I really found the treasure hunt part really interesting because we got to look around and find what we needed for the task and that was really fun.

What would you make with the equipment you have ?

  2. Hi Afatia,
Thank you for replying to my question. I agree, searching for equipments in our class was very challenging and fun at the same time! When I think about the outcome, I think that we can make a catapult but on the other hand we can also make a scale by weighing the items with the help of a thread. Step by step the activity will go more interesting and I am so excited to see what we are making. What do you think you will be making and how?

  3. Hi Sakshi thank you for replying to my response.
I total agree that searching for the equipment was challenging because we were at school and didn't have some of the things we needed so we could be prepared. It was also fun because we didn't expect to find thing in the classroom. I think that we will be making a catapult like you because the items we have now could help us make a catapult. If you made a catapult what would you use to test the catapult out ?

    1. Hi Afatia,
I am glad you replied to my question! I agree, somehow doing the treasure hunt at school was hard. But the plus point is that we could work as a team with our friends which we couldn't do at home. If I made a catapult, I would use the different weights to test the experiment and the spatula to throw it. What did you find interesting in this activity?

  4. Hi Sakshi thank you for replying to my comment.I found searching for the items in the class room very fun and challenging, but the most fun part of this task was making a screencastify about our items and blogging. It was fun because I got to show my learning and work to other on my blog.

Benjamin here again. Happy New Year!

Pretty convenient being at school for that activity huh! How have you been finding it being at home and trying to find materials there?

I was saying to Chris on their blog that the screencastify was really sweet, you all spoke well together as a team :). I wonder if you’ll be in the same class again next year?

    Hope you’re enjoying your break!

    Regards,
    Benjamin
