SLJ Week 2 Activity 12 Pigpen Code

LI: To try and code or decode a message
Today, for the 12 task of the summer learning journey we were learning about how to decode or code a message using a pigpen code. First we had to learn how to code and what types of symbols each letter had. Then first we got an activity telling us to decode the sentence. We had to find out which beach they were talking about. The next part of this activity was to try and code your own pigpen code. We had to find out which was our favorite beach was na d code the name for others to try and decode it. I found this activity very interesting because I never knew what was pigpen and and haven't even heard of that so I got to learn something new for today challenge from the summer learning journey.

  1. Malo e lelei Afatia,

I found your blog post while surfing through your blog. Your work is awesome! I think the answer to your question is the Narrow Neck beach in New Zealand. Am i right? I agree, I never knew what pigpen codes were as well. The reason why I loved doing the task was because I came to learn new things and right something that nobody else can understand. Do you know some interesting facts about pigpen codes?

    Keep up the great work!

  2. Talofa lava Afatia, this is Elle from the Summer Learning Journey.

Well done for completing the Pigpen Cipher activity! This task was a good challenge, so great job for all the hard work you put in!

Did you manage to figure out which beach has a lion rock? I’ve been to this beach before and the view from Lion Rock is very beautiful!

You did a great job on your own pigpen treasure code as well! I have deciphered it, but I don’t want to give the answer away in the comments to others who want to have a go! But I will say, I think it is on the North Shore in Auckland out towards Devonport. Did I get it right?

Ka pai and keep up the great work Afatia! Happy New Year!

    Ngā mihi,
