Natural Disaster - Who can help you

LI: To find out who can help you in a tsunami.
For this task we were asked to find out who can help you in a natural disaster.I found out that Civil defence deals with theses kind of disaster.You mustn't leave the safe point because you could get caught up in the tsunami and that's why you always wait for the all clear signal before you leave.

 

Natural Disasters - What to do

LI: To create a poster on what to do when there is a natural disaster ( tsunamis )

For this task we were asked to make a poster about showing people what they could to survive a natural disaster. I chose a tsunamis. We had to make proper clear instruction in case of a tsunami.Their I have put the four main step you MUST do when their is a tsunami.

LI: To make a poster showing what to do in A tsunami.
For this task we were asked to make a poster showing what to do in  a tsunami. We had to make clear instruction to show people what they need to do if the tsunami comes.This helps so when the time actually come and there's a tsunami people would know what to do, and you could look for the signs that shows their is a tsunami coming.

Louis Pasteur

LI: To research A scientist about Chemistry.

Today Sakshi and I worked together to create a presentation on Louis Pasteur. To complete this task we first talked to each other through a video call so we could easily talk to each other. Once we had collected information about his journey, occupation, achievements and facts we made added it into a google slide. In the end we created a slide showcasing the questions we used to guide our research. We really enjoyed working together as we could talk to each other and share our ideas concerning this topic and could also work as a team.


Albert Einstein

LI: To research A scientist about physics. 

 

Since we are know back to level three my class had been keeping our learning going by doing our distance learning. One of the task we were given was to pick a scientist from a list and research what they do and what part of science did they what to learn about. For this task I picked Albert Einstein. Ever since I started this activity I learnt new things about Albert Einstein. For example I now know that people took half of his brain so they could test it and the other half was left for Albert Einstein.

Scale Drawing

LI: To learn how to do scale drawing with Mrs Kirkpatrick.

During these few days Mrs Kirkpatrick introduced scale drawing to the year sevens and eights. Every year the year sevens and eights  do scale drawing with Mrs kirkpatrick. First we had to measure our small picture then transfer those measurements on a bigger sheet of paper. We had to draw a grid on our bigger piece of paper. Then we had to start drawing our art. I did pikachu. Before we started drawing we had to get the grid checked out by Mrs Kirkpatrick. Then we started the drawing. I started with the ear of pikachu, because I thought the ear was easy. Completing this piece of art was fun and enjoyable.

Careers Pathway

LI: To find out what qualifications I will need to become a SPCA
For this task we learnt about what qualifications we need to get the job. The job that took my interest was being an SPCA person ( nurse for animals ). We had to find out what we had to do first before we get this job. Example: to be a SPCA person you must have a N.Z. diploma Veterinary Nursing assistant level 6. 

Survey with the Juniors

During this week LS2 helped the juniors do their surveys.We also played and watched videos about the cook island week. We helped year 1 - 3 students do their survey. We are also showing our school values with are confident,Attitude,Respect and Excellence and Innovation.

Dance Class # 1

Today we had dance class.Dance is  expression, me and my body, movement, creativity, and there's no wrong or right way to do dance.Our dance teacher was Mrs Rebecca our theme for todays dance class was me and my body.So when she said that she meant you had to make shapes and movements with different parts of your body.First we had a warm up game.We had to copy every dance move that she done. After that we had to get into a group of 6, 7, or eight but we had a groups of six. We had to be a group with boys and girls, we also had to name our team and our team name was team Barbie girl.We went through the alphabet, but the trick was we had to make the letters with everyone in our group.This was fun and it was a great experiments.
   

Life Education

LI: To learn about safety.


This week we had the life Caravan. Life Education is a charity that helps and improves children's life style so the could make healthier choices.We learnt about the trying to make wiser choices, for example age 12 to 15 are experimenting vaping, smoking, and drugs. In one of the sessions we meet cuppie in the first video he was happy and friendly because he just started a blog and was super happy, but in the second video he was depressed,sad, and streed. So we wrote letters to him with some advice.




Science Main Ideas

LI: to find the most vital ideas from the information to help us answer the question “What is science?”.


This DLO is identifying the ideas of science which we have learnt from the information we have gained. To find the vital information, we negotiated by collaborating and communicating with our team. We shared our opinions and ideas, we took notes and from them we selected and rejected information to get to our final conclusion. 


For us the 3 main vital ideas are:

  1. Science is the discovery of What, Why, and How events happen

  2. The three main branches of science are Physics, Chemistry, and Biology

  3. There are two main categories of science, and they are Basic and Applied Science

Summarising



LI: to summarise the information.


This DLO is highlighting our summary about what we know about science. In our groups, we have been sharing our ideas on posted notes and found the key words which we then wrote a summary about what science is. To then create a summary about the topic. We needed to skim and scan for key vocabulary to create this DLO. We also had to join our ideas together to create a more efficient idea.


We used our new question dice to help us construct some questions we want to find more about. The three questions we made using the dices were:


  1. When did science start?

  2. How will science progress in the future?

  3. Who was the first scientist?
