Kowhaiwhai Patterns - Maori God Symbols

LI: To To design a kowhaiwhai pattern for our PBS Te Reo Blog.

A Kowhaiwhai pattern is a traditional piece of art from the maori culture. You would mostly find them in a wharenui where they have traditional meetings. They are important because the maori people use them to tell stories. I have the water symbol, war symbol, and the earth symbol.Theses are the maori gods and the plants of the maori cultural. The colours I have used was red, blue, green.and white.

  1. Kia Ora Afatia. I love your modern kowhaiwhai pattern. It is cool that you have used traditional colours while incorporating green and blue to give it a modern touch. The colours compliment one another well. I like your reference to the Maori gods. What gave you the idea to use the triangles in your design?
