Art Colouring Book : Step It up Challenge

Recreated image

The elements of art is one of the most important things you use when doing art. When I combine all the elements I create a very good picture, art, or painting.Using the elements  of art included lines, shape, form, texture, colour, space, and value.

Lines a used of some hard piece of surface. Their are many types of lines such as, wavy lines, straight lines, and many more. When the lines are put together they form a shape. Shapes come in all types of sizes, they can also be geometric when lines are put together. When shape are used they create type of forms.

Shapes have many different types of form when used.Space is the amount of height and width you have between your art, painting, or picture.Space is one of the most things you need when you are doing art.Colours are one of the most expressive element of art. It is also used when you are showing space. Value is the lightness or darkness of a colour. When a dark or light colour is together they create contrast with form texture. Texture is how the art feels. It could be rough, soft, smooth.

Art is all about the elements. In one of my art I used some of the elements of art. Some of the elements of art I used was space, line, shapes. Using these elements really helped me with my art, for example one of my art was a bunch of lines together forming a shape. I used lines, shapes, space, to create my painting.

Combining the elements of art is one of the most important part when doing art. Such as having the right tools, paper, and a right place you could do it in. Even when you paint lines it still includes the elements of art. Showing the elements could really bring detail and could also express the story behind it.

This morning we tried one of this year’s Kick Start Summer Learning Journey activities. The purpose of this task was to experiment with colours by mixing colours from the original palette with pop colours. This allowed us to recolours famous painting or images of landmarks around the world. For this task we were asked to make a T.E.E.L paragraph about the step it up challenge we have been doing. T.E.E.L stands for topic starter, eleaborate, evidence, and linking back to the topic starter

Tech Reflection - Science With Mrs Sharma

This week for tech was our last week with Mrs sharma for science. This week's topic was about plants and food makers.First we learnt about plants, then we were given five questions about plants to answer then we would share our thinking. After sharing our thinking we watched a video more about plants and we were also asked to take note. One fun fact about plants is that plants are useful to animals because they are also part of the food chain. Next we were tasked to find ten leafs and write the size, texture, colour, thickness, and the patterent of the leaf. I enjoyed finding more about plants and what they do for a living.

Respecting Teachers - CARE Awards - Gold Respect

For this task I was asked to create a video about how you could respect teachers. When respecting teachers  you could do what they tell you to do the first time, don't disrespect them, and don't talk back to the teacher when they are talking to you and listen to the teachers when they are talking to the class. What I enjoyed from this task was making a video about how you could respect teacher. I liked this because I could show and tell other kids about showing respect to their teachers and help them being a better student.

Thank You Letter - Gold Respect - C.A.R.E. Awards

LI: To create a thank you letter to a staff member os teacher.
Today we were continuing our C.A.R.E for this block. For this task I completed one of my Gold Respect work. I did this task showing a thank you letter for one of the teacher, of staff member. I wrote about Mrs Linda and how she has done everything for this class and also me. I don’t know how to repay for all the patience and kindness you have given this class, but all I can say is that you are one of the most spectacular teacher aids I have ever learnt with, because even when you’re angry you don’t show it and that’s what I like about you.

Art Colouring Book

LI:To experiment with colours.

This morning we tried one of this year’s Summer Learning Journey activities. The purpose of this task was to experiment with colours by mixing colours from the original palette with pop colours. This allowed us to recolours famous painting or images of landmarks around the world. FIrst we saw the original design then we used different colour pallets to recreate the image.I liked how we got to experiment with colours and recreate famous paintings or images.

Book Club - Bok Choy

LI: to unpack the text together

Fau, Lukah, Chris, Vayan, Sulia, Azatulah and I were introduced to the activity, Book Club by Mrs Anderson.  Each member of the book club has a role to take each week. The 7 roles are, The Discussion Director, Connector, Summariser, Passage Picker, Word Master, Illustrator and Meeting Report.

The book that we read this week was called “Bok Choy” by Paul Mason. The moral of the story was describing the differences between the chinese people compared to the english. This story unpacked the racism faced by chinese miners, who came to New Zealand in 1800s to seek their fortune in the gold fields. From this story we learnt it is important to accept one another despite who we are and how we look.

Once we had completed the tasks for our roles, we reported back to the group and shared our thoughts and ideas. The Discussion Director’s asked questions and guided everybody to be on the right track. The Summariser, picked 20 most important words from the story, to 6, and used it to summarise the text. The Passage Picker would pick a part of the story and write why it’s important to you. The Connector had to make connections to themself, to text, and to the world from the book. . I enjoyed that we had a rich conversation about our learning without hep from the teacher.

Te Whanau Raukura Performance

This week we had a professional kapa haka group perform items for our school. The groups name is called Te whanau Raukura. When they entered the hall they blew the conch showing us they culture. The first song they sang was them saying thank you for having them perform to us.Each maori item they used they explained the meaning behind it, what it's for, and how you use it.They used taiaha, poi and te rakau in their performance. They usually go to the Auckland museum and perform their. When they danced they used their item in special way to express how they dance, also the music they used was also helping them expressing their dance in different ways.Finishing their performance we were all split into our class so we can have a game with each of the performers. We had Bekah teach us our game. We played Pukana. How you play this is that you need a group of people to form a circle then someone would say. Ringa Pakahe A then pukana he pukana ha the you would start of pointing you hand like the maori people would do when they dance and every time someone did that to you you had to do the same thing to the next person beside you or to the same person. I enjoyed seeing experienced people performing so I could see what it's like for me to do kapa haka in front of people because I'm also in the kapa haka group for school.

Exploring our national current events

LI: To identify author’s purpose.

For this task we learnt about Current Events. We used this words to find out about events around the world timeliness, relevance, magnitude, unexpectedness, impact, somebody important, oddity, conflict, something negative, continuity, emotions and progress.Authors write for a purpose (reason). These reasons are to persuade, inform or entertain (PIE). Each day, newspaper editors around the world must make decisions about which stories they will run. We explored the different types of current events that are happening in New Zealand, thought about why the story made the news and plotted the location on a google map. I worked with Sakshi,Matthew,Chris, & Pouvi.

Provocation: Should masks be compulsory on NZ public transport?

LI: To identify and consider the two perspectives of this provocation to help me form an opinion.

For this task we used provocation to help us answer this question, should mask be compulsory on NZ public transport. A provocation is an action or speech that triggers strong feelings about a topic. Today we considered both sides of the provocation, ‘Should masks be compulsory on NZ public transport?’ We then used that information to help us form an opinion that we could justify with evidence. We had many link that helped us gather evidence and information about this topic. In my opinion I think mask should be mandatory when using public transportation, by using face covering you can prevent germ spreading to other people. Covid 19 is one of the serious problem that has caused the our countries to go into lock down. Using a face mask we can stop spreading germ stop to  other and we can live in peace. Jacinda Arden explains that why wearing masks on public transports is mandatory “Now is the right time to make mask use mandatory in these situations”.

Charge Of The Light Brigade

LI: To understand the story behind the poem.
This week we learnt about the poem called the Light Brigade. We had to unpack the poem bit by bit to understand the meaning behind the poem. The author of this poem is Alfred Lord Testiness. The story behind this poem is about the light brigade riding the valley of death and then trying to retrieve the guns that were stolen. They came back failing the mission, and coming out with nothing. 600 men went in less then one third came back ( less that 200). One thing that I enjoyed was unpacking the poem story bit by bit because I got to learn something new.

Math Challenge

LI: To explain our strategy

This week in maths Hay lee, Lukah, RJ, Juel and I created a DLO about our challenge we did in Maths. Our maths challenges were based on our learning about weight. We had three challenges all together. We solved three separate word problems and chose one to make a DLO about. We explained our strategy on how we got the answer. Our problem was to figure out the combination of animals to match the weight of an elephant. Something I found interesting was learning more about weight and showing our strategy.
