Commenting

LI: To comment on how someone did their work. This week i commented on fau's writing because she had explained herself really good about what she had done for writing.

Kiwi Sport / Swimming

LI: To extend the duration of your swimming.

This week we had another swimming lesson with James. There was another person named Nick, he was a helper.

We first had done streamlines. We had to put our hands behind our ears and dive into the water and do streamlines. We had to do it back and fourth to the platforms. Than we had done streamlines and when we need a breath we turn on our backs.

We had to learn how to swim and not touch the ground until we got to the platform.

Then we had been diving for toys in the water. We all had a toy to dive for. It was pool toys.

Basic Facts

L.I: To learn you additional and  subtraction quietly.
 I did my and it took  5 mints and 40s it took long because  i did  not know my  addition and subtraction fast. So now i now to do my basic facts fast and learn them quickly. For my basic facts i try to make them all right so it can say below good. On the photo of i got three answers wrong.

LI: To retell what happened in a story.Kristy, Mary Anne,Claudia, and Stacey are best friends and founding members of the babysitter club.Whatever comes up - cranky toddlers, huge dogs,scary neighbours,prank calls - you can count on them to save the day.

Fun Fabulous Fitness / Flip Grid / Synthesis /

This week, each group read a different article and fill in the Synthesis boxes. In the prior knowledge box, we had to explain what we already knew already from the topic of the article. In the new information box, it had to include an explanation of new information or facts that we learned after reading the article. In the new understandings, we had to summarise new understandings that we understood or a summary of a mix of the "New information" and "Prior knowledge" boxes. My group did an article called Fun Fabulous Fitness

Advertising


LI: To analyse the print advert.This week we are learning the types of tools used in a advert. To learn these tools every body was given words and we had to find the definition in a group. My group did slogans, Language features, catchphrase and product.

Pulley


LI: To learn about pulleys.
This week learning for inquiry was all about pulleys.Another simple machine that we learnt about for inquiry was a pulley. A pulley is a rope passing through a wheel to lift something. For example  we got two training sticks and a rope, we tied one side of the rope to one of the training sticks and we made a loop around the other, four people are holding both sides of the sticks, one person is then pulling on the rope so that it can pull the opposite stick across, we found out that pulleys half the amount of force being used to lift something. 

Proportion Facts / WIP / Working in progress

LI: To learn and to also help other.This week of commission was proportion word problems. My group didn't really understand so we got a tutorial about it. When we got the tutorial our teacher suggests that instead of proportion we do proportion facts. This commission will be due next Monday. This is WIP, working in progress.

Inter school Net-Ball

L.I To play Netball fair and Square.
For this blog post I be telling you what games we have played and the games we played against. This helps by passing the ball to my other team mates.


This week was tough because a large group went to compete in the inter school net ball.All the games i played was really hard but we did our best.For our Fourth game we played against Sylvia park if we win this game we will be playing in the finals. When we played some of us to hurt but that didn't stop us from winning some of our games. I had fun representing our school.

Swimming / Kiwi Sport

LI: To learn water safety and how to save someone in need.
This when we were in the pool our understanding was all about how to save someone and not to put you and the person you are saving endanger. Our instructor (Jame's) told us to get into partners. Their were eight students in total so every had a partner. My partner was Liletina. Then Jame's told us one person from each partner has to come out of the pool and lay on the end of the pool. So the other people stayed in the water. Jame's gave each of us on the end of the pool a noodle. The people in the water had to act like they were drowning.So the people with the noodle had to save the person drowning but our teacher ( instructor ) say we had to lay on our stomach so we don't get pulled in as well.

Basic Facts / 2019

LI: To remember basic facts maths facts. This week i got everything right on the addition part but i didn't do the subtraction.My time was 3:45.

LI: To summarise and retell a text.This book is called In focus reptiles. Their is a lot fact and information about reptiles and many other things.They have facts all kind of reptiles like lizard,snakes,turtles,tortoises,crocodile's,terrific tuatara and many more.and even poisonous reptile's.

Proportions Problems


LI: To earn and look after money. This week we had to chose another commission to complete and get the money. But if we want to get even more money we had to get the speed,quality to get more money.Our commission for my group was proportion problems. This is WIP working in progress. This commission will be completed by 26/8/2019.

Kiwi Can ~ 2019 / Challenges

LI: To cope with the challenge.
This week learning at kiwi can was all about how you or someone else can cope with a challenging task. Their were four challenge's, for each group. First challenge was writing the alphabet backwards. The 2 challenge was doing Five each of sit ups,burbles,squats,push ups. The 3 challenge was matching the maori words to the English colour names. The last challenge was coming up with new actions for the catch phrase.

Group People : Liane,Liletina,Lukah,Charlize, and me. 

Energiser : Rats and Rabbits.

Catch Phrase : Kiwi Can say control your self never shout kiwi can over and out.  


When my group started on the first challenge we had to write the alphabet backwards. This task was challenging because we can know how to say but not back wards. My group only got to the letter U witch was hard even to get to W.

The next challenge was very challenging because we had to do Five each of sit ups,burbles,squats,push ups. How i coped with the challenge was I did had a little rest and do that for all the five things we had to do.

The task after that was a bit hard because we had to memorise the Maori manes for the colours and match the maori words to the English words. This was hard because we tried to remember the maori song of the colours and we did but part of it.

The last challenge was ok  because we just had to recreate actions for the catch phrase. This was bit hard because we only had one minute.

Fix The Poster ~ Cyber Smart


LI: To apply the print design rules. This week was like last week learning about the print design rules. This week's task was we had to fix four posters that had the four print designs rules all wrong. Their was one poster each for each rule.

Incline Plain


LI: To learn about how a incline plain works and how it is used.
For our task we had to make a ramp with different kind of materials like cardboard,Cube and a Vollite .We had two task  to finish the first challenge is to make a ramp in different kind of moving skills. Our Second task was when you car finishing going of the ramp is has to still drive straight.We had to test these cars on different ramps with different materials.

Task Number Two :
The next task we had to understand what and how a wedge works. For this task we were given two videos show how and what is a wedge.Our task had to be a animation about wedges and what will happen if people don't use a wedge they can't [push through things. For example if a ship did not have a wedge in the front the ship can't go through the ocean. But if the ship did have a wedge it makes things a lot easier.

Writing / 2019 Speech / Poems finals / Pervasive speech

LI: To create a pervasive speech and a poem.

Today, the speech/poem finals winner performed their poems/ speech in front of the whole school.Their was a guest judge in with us, Mr Stevenson. The junior school presented a poem that they have learnt and the seniors presented a pervasive speech they wrote. Their were 12 presenters in total.

My favourite pervasive speech presenters was Fau, she was talking about mental health and how we should at least smile and make one complement to someone especially a stranger, she also asked us if we ever noticed how anyone feel's. She told us that a smile , complement and even a welcome can brightens someone days. Fau Had the confident all the way through while talking to the school about mental health.

My favourite poem presenter was micela. Her poem was humpty dumpty. She was also loud and clear, also she had the confidence to get up in front of the school and say her poem.

Ihumātao ~ Reading

We needed to complete the last slide on the Ihumatao DLO about what we believe and talking about our opinion of the Ihumatao problem. We had to state 3 points to back up our opinion and say of our Ihumatao beliefs. The conclusion had to include a statement/summary to explain and back up what we are saying and stating about the Ihumatao and talking about why people should take the side we chose.

Wheel and Axle

 


LI: to learn about the wheel and axle

Rube Goldberg was a famous american cartoonist and inventor. He created machinery like the wheel and axle. We needed to fill in a google draw with a car experiment and a lever experiment. With the car experiment, we needed to test out the different distances it went on different materials standing on its wheels and on its side. With the lever experiment, we needed to make our own contraption to lift or carry an object with a pivot point.

We needed to create a wheel and axle with the same partner from Tuesday to follow the instructions and make a SPINNING wheel and axle contraption. 

Kiwi Sport / Swimming

I: To learn how to stay swimming in the water without drowning.
This week was week four for our swimming. We first down streamlines, to breath we turn on our backs. Then we were swimming on our back poking our stomachs out to float and kick. Then we had learnt how to do survival strokes. For the survival strokes we had to float on our back and tuck our legs in, open that up then kick them together. Then we done dolphin kicks and dolphin dives.

Basic Facts

This week for basic facts boxes I did speed demon up to 10 I had 3 minters and 15 seconds I had 4 wrong next time I will try and get less then 4 wrong. This basic facts helps me with m addition and my subtraction and it also helps you if you keeping practice and practice.My time was 3:45s

Maths | Ratio Problems

LI: to manage finances and profit by creating with maths.
 We are learning about how to use and make money by spending it wisely. We all have bank accounts and we have a opening balance. Each person gets a 50 dollar for the start. We have commissions to complete that are different levels that earn us different amount of money if finished. I am doing a game of ratios to test how good you are.

Ihumātao | Reading


L.I To Identify the main Idea from the text.
This week for reading we write down if the Article is on the  Maori side or there are supporting the the Fletcher side. We had to write down if they were on our side or on the Fletcher side. Then we had to write our thoughts about there opinion they have made.

Writing \ Persuasive speech

This week we had to say our speech we were writing over the four weeks. Our teacher had a document that tell us about if we did it right or wrong. Each and every person from the high writing groups had to say their speech. People that already said their speech had a timer on the computer for the person speaking. Our time was put on the same document our teacher had and then he shared it to the people who did their speech. Here is the questions we had to answers by our self's

Kiwi Can / 2019

L.I To Learn about Self Control and Self disciplines.

Engineer      
Our Engineer was called Head shoulder nee es and toes. For this game we had to be in partners my partner was Salina  so our kiwi can teacher said Head Shoulder nee es and toes but when he say toes there is a cone in the middle of us and you have try and grab the cone before your other partner does.


Activity 
Our Activity was Emotions acting we had to working groups in my groups was Charlize,Fau,Hosea,Sione T, Andrew, and me. Our card said two friends are having an argument about something. That something was that one of the friends stole from the shop and there were two costumers buying something then the other friend said not to do it because it was bad so she said sorry. 


Catch Phrase 
Kiwi can says control your self don't shout kiwi can over and out.

Print Design Rules ~ Cyber Smart


LI: To identify the four areas of print designs. This week was all about learning the four parts of the print designs rules. This task was about the four design rules. We had to put each slide under each print design rules. The print design rules are Compositions,Lay Out,Colour and Text. On each slide their was emojis of thumbs up and thumbs down. We had to delete one to see if it was right or wrong.

Kiwi Sport / Swimming

LI: to learn water safety
We first started off with stream lines. Then James (Instructor) gave us a tip when doing our streamlines. We do our streamlines with a straight body, and our head looking down in the water. Then when we kick we should use the strength from our hips and thighs.

Next we used paddle boards to practise our kicks. We then held the paddle board horizontally and did our kicks. Later we had to try to swim down and touch the ground, then come back up. Lastly we did laps and tried to do it without stopping. Lastly we did a swim we wanted to do and hopped out.

Lion King Play Trip

LI: To respect watch and appreciate what people put on.
Today was amazing because we had a trip to Ormiston Junior College to watch them put on a play The Lion King. Ryan was the directer of the play and Luke was the principal of the college.Their were 24 people that was in the play.I liked the scene when Rafiki was singing and when Simba defeated Skarr.  It took 2 hours because they were performing the Lion king and because we weren't watching the movie. There was heaps of local schools coming to watch them perform. They made some mistakes but they kept on going on. Ormiston Junior College had to practice there  performance in the dance studio.


Adding and Subtraction Fractions


LI: To earn and look after money. This week each of our groups have chosen a commission to do for this week.My group had Adding and subtraction fraction problems. We also chose to make a game. Our game is WIP and that means working in progress. We learnt about fraction ans sets of fractions last week so we chose to make a adding and subtraction fraction problem. Their also a slide that has our photos of our planning.

Ihumātao ~ Reading


L:I  To Identify the main ideas in the text.
This week for reading we learned about Ihumātao our teacher gave us a website with the date and what had happens we had to write the date and write what had happen. Next we had to make one slide with the 4 slides on.
We had to work in groups in my group was Suila,Afatia Oscar,Shinaye and me.
Here is one Fact.
1863: The land at Ihumātao was taken 'by proclamation' during the invasion of the Waikato, according to SOUL.

Rube Goldburg - Inquiry

LI: to learn about STEAM
For the rest of the term we are doing STEAM for inquiry. Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. We first looked at who Rube Goldberg was, we had to find out the 5 W's and H about him. Rube Goldberg invented the Rube Goldberg machine, which does simple task in a over-complicated manner. We also tried to make a human rube Goldberg machine to open the door.

Kiwi Can ~ 2019

LI: To understand emotions.

Catch Phrase : If you feel it let it out don't doubt just let it all out.

Energiser : The energiser was called emotion cards. The kiwi can leader gave us card and some of was we had to share a card with a buddy for their was no more. We had to find four people the has a card that links to your card. My card was panic and i found four people with their cards that link with mine.


Activity :  Our activity was lick last week activity. We had to do a role play about what was on the card that was given to us. We had to work in a group of five for this. The card that we were given was Bulling. Our play was about Two friends were waiting for the but home but a big and older boy come and bully you and the bully brother watch's what the big brother is doing. Then the next day the little brother dose the same thing that the big brother was doing to another person.

What we did : We were learning about how to control your emotions and to let your emotions out before they build up and up and then you will be really mad or sad.

LI : To create a persuasive speech.This week was all about writing your persuasive speech we will be presenting in week four.We had to talk about rhetorical question to make them think about your topic.We had to introduce your topic in a catchy way. A rhetorical question is a question that is not meant to be answered. An opinion is what you think and not what any else thinks.A fact is what is true and is what can be proven.

Ihumātao | Reading

LI: To learn about what happened in Ihumātao. This week we were working on the same slide from last week for Ihumātao about what is happening there. We had to do four slide for our reading task. For this reading task we had to use the five W and the H and they were Who,When,why,What,Where,and the H How.The names of the slide were What do you Know,Mataurange Maori,Relationship with lands,last one Where.

Kiwi Sport | Swimming

This week we had another sessions of swimming. The first thing we did was get into the groups that we were in last week. My teacher in the pool was James from last year. So our first lesson was to swim streamlines from the water platform to the other platform more down the pool. We had to streamline back and forth one time. 

The next thing we did was arm circle. We had to lift our arm one by one then you will be swimming. We had to do the three times to get use to it and to do it the way it is suppose to go.Our teacher gave us a little push to swim faster if we can.

Next we did was bounce and breath : 
We had to bounce up from swimming and breath then bounce back down to swim all the way.

Endurance swimming :
We had do normal swimming and to see how fast we can swim.

Dolphin kick: We had to dolphin kick back and forth for some time for the last thing we had to do before we will high five our teacher and do any kind off swimming you want.

Basic Fractions Facts

LI: To earn and look after money.This we we had an tutorial about fractions of sets. When we had our tutorial we had to create a game,quiz, and tutorial about fractions. For this task our group changed into two small groups boys and girls. The girls did a basic fractions game and the boys did a fraction of sets. Our game is WIP that means it is a working progress.Tutorial means giving people lessons about your topic.
