National Treasure / SLJ / Day 5 /

LI: To write three thing that you treasure and why you do it.
For this activity, we would like to learn more about the things that are important to you and please share three things that you treasure and say why they are treasures to you.

1. I treasure my jewelry because it has good things on it like diamonds and more like that. Also people buy jewelry with their own money for me and a want to respect them buying the jewelry for me. So i take care of it carefully.

2.  The second thing a treasure is the money I  get from people. When I get money from people I treasure it because they gave their money to me for being good.

3. The last thing that t treasure is my life because you only get one shot inlife to do everything that you want to do. So I want to take care of my needs health and vitamints.

LI:To write tips on a brochure of tonga. The last activity for day four was to make a brochure about some tips when you go on a trip to tonga. I added one photo and another photo but I created the tongan flag by using the shapes.

Never be silly on the day of white sunday because you might get punished.

SLJ Day 4 / Making a racket



LI: To list three things that you learnt about the William sisters.

For this activity we had to list three things that we learnt about Serena and Venus Williams and also what we still want to know. 


I want to know how long they have played tennis for. 

I learnt that Venus won the Wimbledon in 2005, I also learnt that Serena earns more than $88 million dollars for her career. 

I also learnt that Serena and Venus don't do their talks or agree on things that they want or want to do.

This week task we were learning about rugby - superstars. We had to name three super powers. Then we had to state one reason or more about each three super - powers.

SLJ Task 1 / Day 2 / Jean Batten & Amelia Earhart

LI: To Learn the differences about Amelia Earhart and Jean Batten. Day two task was to create a Venn Diagram about the two explores flying solo (meaning fly around the world by themselves). We had to write facts or information about the two woman and then we had to write what they have in common. I did three facts about the two woman.

What I learnt:
I learnt about Jean Batten got bitten by a dog and refused to use treatment. Then without treatment she sadly past away from the infection on the dog bite.

This week is the first week of summer learning Journey. Our Task was to think of 10 foods that we can take with us on a boat for 21 says (3 Weeks). LI: to explain how we fell about the gender pay gap
In this task we had to explain if the gender pay gap is fair. I think that it is unfair. Because woman are getting paid less cause of there gender. I think that if both genders are doing the same amount of work than they should be able to get paid the same amount of money and should work for the same amount of time.

Ithink that both genders should be paid equally. It shouldn't matter what gender they are both genders should be treated equally.

Sequence of Events


LI: To write the chapters in your own words. This week we had to complete all of our task for the Roald dahl books.The last task I had to complete was the Sequence of events. We had to summarise chapters on the book we had. We had to complete the task using the book but some other people did not use the book.

For this Activity We had to make a Pepeha. The Summer Learing Journey made template for us to use It had sentences for mountain ,River,City and others. I learned how to make a Pepeha.

This week was fun week meaning the week before the last week of school we have a fun week when chose five games we want to play for the last session.

First we practices with our teacher and then we were sent of to do the task.We had to translate the maori numbers to English numbers.We we completed the task our moari teacher taught us hundreds,thousands and millions. We had to say them in maori but we didn't write the numbers in maori.

Kiwi Sport

L.I to play singles. We played rally's. We played in singles. We started with challenging each other to see who will be the champions. It was normal rules. This time the challenger will serve the ball in. This time we had one point. Then we start to play.We had to make sure that we hit the ball to the corners to make the opponent run side to side and then get tired.

Kiwi Can / Respect / Respect Others

LI: To learn how to respect other,disabilities,looks,beliefs, and Religion.

This week we learnt about how to respect others in their ways. First we had a chat or recapped what happened last week. We talked about why people judge other people just by looking at them.

Then Miss Mack gave a example about respecting other people.

Example : Is we had a disability person in the school. We had to answer what will we do to that person to make him/her fell better or feel like they need to be here.

LI:To write a setting description
This week is the last week we are going to be learning about Ronald Dahl and the books he wrote. That means I have to finish reading the book which is the Matilda. The task I completed this week is the setting description. I had to find the setting were it token place in the book which is the Miss Honeys cottage. When I found the picture I need a had to write a showing paragraph that needs to have the 5 senses. The 5 senses is vision, hearing, touch, smell and taste.

L.I - To learn about fractions
This week for Maths we are learning about fractions. Fractions is a whole object divided into two equal pieces.  We used coloured paper to make the fractions. Quarters is a whole object divided into four pieces. The examples are shown below and also the meanings. We had to write an meaning and and glue the paper to our maths books. We also had to eight meaning and we had to write how to do the working out. Then after that we divided a even number of beans and divide the number (12) into quatures.

LI. To design an advertisement poster for our market day. This week we have been making and designing posters for our school market day. The reason we are making posters so we can hand it out to students and students could by our frames that we made.

LI. to play doubles tennis.
We played rally's. We played in pairs. We started with challenging each other to see who will be the champions. It was normal rules.Peter served the ball in. Then we played. We then had our two champions. 

Just Frame It / Inquiry

LI: To make a frame. Just Frame it is the name for our company. This Friday is selling day where people come and buy our product. Each class has created a different product. This product needs a lot of time and effort. We had to use tow whole day for this. We thank Our teachers for making the frame for us. We had a choice to make one big frame and one small frame

Kiwi Can / Respect

LI: To respect others for their differences.
This week we learnt how to respect other beliefs,ideas, and customs also learn about other cultures,religions, and costume
We talked a bout it. Hold your tongue (meaning think about what you are going to say in your mind before you say it psychically to people).

Activity : This week our activity was spot the differences. How you play is you need to be in pairs then one person changes the appearances  while the other person turns around.  Then the other person turns around and tries to find the differences about the person. After that you switch places with the other person.

Tennis / Kiwi Sport

LI: learn how to volley a tennis ball.
This week we tried volleying a ball in tennis. We had to used the forehand and the backhand technique to practice our tennis skills. We did this in a group of 4 and we had practised volleying with the different serves that Coach Peter had taught us.

Maths / Graph / Measurements

LI: To learn to record and to measure the fly distances for the type of plane.This week we had to make a paper plane and test it ten times to get a consistence distance.We could work in groups but we weren't allowed to share the same measurement because we chose different types of planes. 

Writing

This week we chose to characters from each group. Then we had to write a paragraph about each 
character. Their names were jaerell and Patricia. Then we had to full out a google draw.We had to full out the characters box.

LI: To learn enterprise and business.Our task for inquiry was to play a coffee shop game. But that was not all it was about how enterprise and business works. We had to see how much money we can make in fourteen days. Then we had to take a screen shot of the day ending. One last thing was to make a recording of one full day.

We did our task which was completing a sheet. Our sheet was Wiki Ono. The sheet Wiki Ono was just translating a few of words but before that we were playing around with Poi Poi's and doing actions with them and even did a song.

LI: To use respectful communication. This week our theme for kiwi can was respectful communication. Also we talked about what is patience. Our energiser and activity was based on patience. The main park of the game or the first thing you need to do to play these games are patience because you have to wait and waiting can be frustrating but that what's patience is.

Maths

LI: To use statistical and scientific methods to study the effect of wing span and area on lift.This week our task was to make ten  paper planes and measure the distance of how much it can fly. Then we had to make a google spread sheet and make a graph showing how much the ten paper plane flew. Their was a specific graph we had to make it on. It was scatters graph

We had to make a google draw about the mistake and what we should of done before we tested the planes because they didn't fly that far. The planes reached about one meter to two metres.



Setting Description / Writing

LI:To investigate figurative language LI:To identify parts of a narrative This week I have completed my task for writing, my task was called setting description. We had to use the 5 senses to make a setting description. We had to find an image or get one from the class site. Once we find an image we had to put it on a google drawing. Next we had to write a telling and a show description of the picture we choose. The difference between the telling and showing sentence in that when you write your telling sentence your just telling them what you see but when you are writing your show sentence your describing the things you see.

Kiwi Sport / Tennis

LI.to learn the basic tennis movements.
This week for tennis we did fore hand and back hand. We also learned the half serve. For the fore hand and back hand we had to remember to hit the ball gently to the other person as your buddy. Coach Peter teached us the throwing part just with a ball throwing it diagonally to the other opinion. Next we started the serve. The serve was not a full serve but we did half serve, starting on the shoulder and we throw the ball with our left hand and we had to throw the ball high about a meter high and then hit the ball with our racket.

Inquiry / Michal / Food Print

LI: To learn enterprise and business. This week our teacher invited his friend to talk to us about how she started her company which was food print. Her company was about food waste. She use to travel a lot and she worked in the U.S.A for a hotel and then travelled  to London and worked for a shop called Hello fresh.

She saw a lot of food being wasted in her time of working in the U.S.A and London. Her passion was to reduce food waste around Atotearoa. So her company is trying to stop the food waste. She has worked on this company for two years but her company just got lunched six months ago.
She had a lot of work to do for her company that was the logo title colour and many more. There is over 20 million loaves of bread wasted each year in New Zealand. So her mission is to reduce the amount of food being wasted.





Reading / Novel- Matilda / Character Web


L.I To write down there emotions,Look,Personality and Act likes.
For Reading we had to pick a character and find out there emotions,Look,Personality and Act likes. I picked Matilda. Her emotions are special, funny and smart. I learnt about Matilda is that she won't stop for anything in her way if she is trying to get to her goal.

We did our task which was completing two  sheets. Our first sheet was No hea koe. Lastly we did Ko wai koe which is translating the maori sentences into English.

Kiwi Can / 2019 / Respectful Communication

L.I: to show respect to others around
Today we had another session of Kiwi Can. For kiwi can we learn about respecting others and treating the environment well. Our theme for kiwi can is Respect. Respect means treating people the way that they want to be treated. Then we went into our energiser. The energiser was called quick maths. For this game we needed to get a partner.

We would need need to put 1 of our hands behind our back and we would need to take it out and have a number using our finger. If my partner had 5 finger up and I had 5 then we would need to add it all up so that would be 10. For this game I partnered up with Liane. If we won we would need to go on the other side of the building and If we lost we would need to go to the other side. The winners would need to verse each other. The winner for that game was Hosea.

Then we started talking about how we were communicating in the game. Then we went into our Activity. The activity was called Musical Cones. So Mr Semanu would put cones on the floor and there would be students standing next to them. When the music stops we would need to grab the cone as fast as the other person. The winner for that game was Charlize. We communicated by having fun. Then we went into our points. We got 50 points.

Manaiakalani Film Festival / 2019 / Saint Patrick's School

Today we have just got back from watching other schools movies. All of their movies were great to watch. When we got back we are making another blog post on a schools movie. I picked Saint Patrick's school. Their movie was how to write specific instructions on how to do something.

Meaning / Supply and Demand


LI: To learn the definition of supply and demand. This week we were learning the definition of supply and demand. We had to make a slide deck of the meaning and examples.
Next we played a game called I supply, You Demand this game used maths. We had to play this game in groups. The money we got was $ 97 dollars.

Maths / WIP

This week we are studying aerodynamics. We learnt what variables are as well as 
independent and dependent variables. Our task this week was to create 12 paper/origami planes focusing on one certain design and studying each aspect of the design and which part of the paper planes are important and how they affect launch and flight.A variable is a feature of an object or thing that can change between multiple types of the object/item. An independent variable is unchanged by other variables or will not be 

changed by other aspects or assets of a variable.

Kiwi Sport / Tennis

I: To learn how to do a rally.

This week for kiwi sport were learning how to do rally's. We got into our warm ups. We had to pick a partner and start. The warm up was testing and warming up our reactions. Coach Peter then introduced LS1 group A to the rally. A rally is when you hit the ball with the tennis racket and you can't let the ball hit the floor. Our aim was to reach up to four hits with the racket. We used the forehand and backhand technique to help us.

Touch

LI: to have fun play Touch
On Wednesday the 6th of November we had Touch Rugby. The team I was in was Yr 6 Team B. We first went against Tamaki Primary and lost 6 - 0. We then went against Point England and lost 5 - 0. We then went against Glen Taylor which was a brutal lost. We lost 5 - 0. We then went against Glenbrae and we lost 4 - 1. Then we went against Panama Rd and lost 3 - 1. Our last game was  against Panmure District and we sadly lost 2 - 1.

Kiwi Can / Respect / 2019

LI: To respect yourself and others and about respectful communication.. This week we had another session of kiwi can. Our theme for the whole term was respect. We also recapped on what we did and learnt from the past few weeks.

Energiser :
Next for the energiser we played rock, paper, scissors and if you lose go on the knee's, you lose
again your out, if your stand you verse the standing people and if you on
your knees your playing the knees people.

 Activity : 
We did our activityand it was animal quire, you have to say your line correct and also you have a animal. Their were four animal groups. We had to sing for example piggy piggy oink piggy piggy oink piggy piggy oink oink oink. But we had the tigers,kitties,dogs, and the pigs.

Paper Air Plane / Maths / Diagram

LI: To learn the measurement on the paper air plane. This weeks understanding for maths we stared on learning about air dynamic or planes. We had to first know how to make it so the teacher taught us. We had to pick one to study on.My group chose the sky tower. We then had to make it. We had to then measure the parts of the plane.  

Figurative Language / Writing / Examples


LI: To investigate figurative language. Our learning for writing was to understand what is a figurative language. For this task we had to create a slide deck. We had to have examples a simile,Important,Metaphor,Personification,Hyperbole,and a understatement.We had to put in a bit of information of each word. We got into small groups and did a quiz on the first day. We had to write our answer on a white board to test how well we know figurative language.

Kiwi Sport / T4W3 / Tennis

LI: to learn the forehand and backhand grip technique

For the term our Kiwi sport is Tennis. We first started off learning the two grips. The forehand grip technique was putting your dominant hand at the bottom of the racket. The backhand grip technique was two hands holding the racket but the dominant hand is also at the bottom while the weak hand is at the top. We had to do this in partners.

Cyber Smart / Smart & Legal

LI: To understand the legal use of images. This week learning for cyber smart the class was learning about legal and illegal images. For this task we had to write the definition of both illegal and legal and the we had to show examples.We also had to write some other site that has legal and illegal images that we could use or not use.

Author Research : Roald Dahl : Reading

LI: attached to comprehension tasks. This task we had multiple task that we could chose from. I chose do the research on Roald Dahl. Sadly he died on 23 November 1990. He has written 34 books and their are some pictures on some books he made. Quentin Blake worked with and she illustrated his books. LI: to learn about our strengths and weaknesses
This week was the last week were going to talk about Respecting ourselves. We recapped on what we did for the pas few weeks. We first played our energiser. Our energiser was that we had to get in groups and the leader of the group had to go to the teacher and get given an activity. Then the leader has to tell their group the activity and complete it. Then later we talked about strength and weaknesses and said what they were and we told our strengths and weaknesses. Later we played Human Knot.

LI: To learn the basic words of the maori language This we were in the same groups but did different tasks. We were called down to our moari teacher and we recapped the words we learnt over the past two weeks. Then after the recap we added in some new words. In English they meant what is you grandma and grandpas names. We took turns to we cap say it with out looking at the board. The words were.
